I-House and KISAKO Intercultural Institute launched a new program on Japanese culture in 2014. In this series, we introduce aspects of Japanese culture which can lead to new awareness both for non-Japanese and Japanese. The third of the series invites Mr. Jim Hathaway, a sumie artist who has his own studio “Jimusoan” in Yanaka where he holds an exhibition of his work every fall. Mr. Hathaway will introduce sumie as a Japanese art form. He will also demonstrate painting backed by the I-House garden when the sakura should be almost in full bloom.
