As one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century, Le Corbusier left a profound mark on the development of modernist architecture in Japan.Among the Japanese architects who studied under him, Kunio Maekawa and Junzo Sakakura collaborated with Junzo Yoshimura to design the main building of the International House of Japan, while Takamasa Yoshizaka designed the former building of Maison franco-japonaise.
For this joint exhibition, the I-House Library and the Bibliothèque de la Maison franco-japonaisewill present research materials on Le Corbusier alongside resources related to Japanese modernist architecture, including the buildings of both institutions.
