The I-House garden, designed by famed Kyoto landscape artist Ogawa Jihei, is an oasis in the middle of Tokyo. Our supervising gardener Chisao Shigemori will take you to the second virtual tour, which will focus on the ripple marks in our garden and the wild stone wall which was Jihei’s specialty. He will also talk about the meaning of gardens in Japan and the universality that stones have. Please enjoy the garden in its autumn foliage so different from its summer greenery.A special accommodation plan where you can experience the garden tour with Mr. Shigemori in person is also available for the first 20 people to apply. Chisao Shigemori is the supervising gardener at I-House who knows every nook and cranny of the beautiful grounds that he helps maintain in perfect condition. He has been engaged in designing Kyoto-style gardens throughout Japan and also in broadly communicating their aesthetic appeal. He is the grandson of famed gardener Mirei Shigemori.
