Two leading architects representing Asia and the current world, Sou Fujimoto and Mun Summ Wong, will talk about architecture in an era where living and working spaces have changed dramatically around the world with the spread of the pandemic. How will the connections or spaces between people, between people and nature, change? Fujimoto and Wong, who are creating this “space” and “connection,” will convey their thoughts on the future of architecture.

Sou FUJIMOTO (Architect)
Sou Fujimoto was born in Hokkaido in 1971. He graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo, and established Sou Fujimoto Architects in 2000. Among his recent renowned projects is “L’Arbre Blanc” which won 1st prize in the 2014 international competition for the Second Folly of Montpellier, France. Further, in 2015, 2017 and 2018, he won several international competitions with 1st prize in various European countries. In 2019, he was selected as Master Architect for the development of Tsuda University’s Kodaira Campus. In 2020, he was selected as Expo Site Design Producer for the 2025 Japan International Exposition (Kansai Expo / Osaka). His notable works include the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2013 (2013), House NA (2011), Musashino Art University Museum & Library (2010), and House N (2008).

Mun Summ WONG (Architect; Founding Director, WOHA)
Born in 1962, Mun Summ Wong is a founding director of WOHA, a Singapore-based architectural practice he co-founded with Australian architect Richard Hassell in 1994. WOHA works at all scales, from buildings to masterplans, and see its projects as living systems that are connected to the city as a whole. With every project, the practice aims to create an environment matrix of interconnected and human-scaled spaces, fostering community, enabling stewardship of nature, generating biophilic beauty, activating ecosystem services, and building resilience. Currently, Wong serves as a Professor in Practice at the National University of Singapore, Department of Architecture, and also sits on the Nominating Committee of the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize and other design advisory panels in Singapore.

She spent several years as Asia Editor of Wallpaper magazine before becoming Asia Bureau Chief at Monocle magazine. She resides in Tokyo and has travelled up and down Japan meeting artists, artisans and architects. She recently edited The Monocle Book of Japan.
