画像:どんくまさんの パンMore than two and a half years have passed since the war in Ukraine began with Russia’s February 2022 invasion, and there is still no end in sight to the conflict. Ukrainian Ambassador to Japan Sergiy Korsunsky is working hard to support Ukrainian refugees in this country and to strengthen relations between Japan and Ukraine. In the upcoming lecture, he will discuss how his career path led to being named ambassador to Japan and speak on the culture and history of the two countries.
The second part of the lecture will focus on a project to donate Japanese picture books to Ukrainian children suffering from the war. It will feature Inna Ilina, in charge of culture and humanitarian affairs at the Ukrainian Embassy, and a representative from Shiko-Sha, which furnished the picture books. There will also be a performance of the bandura—a Ukrainian plucked-string folk-instrument—by Ukrainian musician and singer Kateryna, who translated the picture books for this project. Please join us for the lecture, which will be an excellent opportunity to learn about Ukraine from many different angles.
